Hello, hello, hello! I’m the new guy :)
My position as a psychotherapist is to help you become a better version of you, and if you’ll let me, I can help you find out better what that could mean. As a therapist, it will never be my place to tell you what to do, how to think or how to feel. My role is to help you figure out what YOU want to do, how YOU think (and want to think) and how YOU feel (and how you WANT to feel). What YOU want for yourself is precisely what I want for you. My approach would be best described as laid back, fun-loving, incredibly warm, kind and validating. Think: Ted Lasso meets Luna Lovegood (from the Harry Potter series). This is who I wish I could be, and therefore what I strive to emulate.
To be more specific, I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. We will focus on how your thoughts/feelings/actions intermingle and I’ll help you make sense of it all. After all, to truly understand our emotions is (in my opinion) the hardest thing we can ever do. I will never profess to have all the answers for you. However, I will do my best to help you learn yourself and recapture the strength to change you already possess but have forgotten about. We’re all frightened children, fumbling around in the dark trying to figure out what to do next. None of us have our act together, nor will we ever. These are two guiding principles to my practice. Ask me about them, and my mantra: Slow Down, Choose Love, Be Present.
I have worked for the past 24 years within a very specific mental health system, guided by solid skills and knowledge honed over decades of research and development of “best practices.” I am expanding now into a whole new world, honed over centuries of practice by those whose voices haven’t been heard as loudly as they should have been. I am incredibly excited to join this group of like-minded individuals. I am here to learn from my new Village! Let me show you how my experience, coupled with a new found freedom, could be helpful for you!
